Educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. Joined Punch as assistant editor. Well known for light essays and comedies. Achieved world fame in 1924 with his book of children’s verse, When We were Very Young, written for his son Christopher Robin. Further classics followed including Winnie the Pooh (1926).
