Leon Kossoff
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Islington, London
Born on 7th of December 1926

Islington-born Kossoff was evacuated to Kings Lynn for a time during WWII, his hosts noticing and encouraging his artistic abilities during his stay. Kossoff studied at St Martin’s, Borough Polytechnic, and the RCA in the forties and fifties, and later taught at the former and at Regent Street Polytechnic and the Chelsea School of Art. His painting is expressionist in style, with liberal use of impasto, his colour palette evolving in brightness over the years.
