Harold Jones
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Kensington, London
Born on 29th of March 1890
Died on 3rd of November 1960

Jones studied mathematics at Cambridge, skills he put to use in his long career as an astronomer, originally as assistant to the Astronomer Royal and eventually between 1933 and 1955 as Astronomer Royal himself. His most notable discovery was that the earth’s rotation is slowing, albeit minimally; and he also increased the accuracy of the measurement of the astronomical unit (earth to the sun).
