Born 1950 - Molecular biologist.

Realised the wider potential of identifying variations in our unique genetic codes, leading to DNA testing being used to solve many crimes, among other things. For his work Jeffreys became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1986, was knighted in 1994, and was awarded the Royal Society of Chemistsí Stokes Medal in 1999.
