Born 1961 - Comedienne, actress and writer.

Studied English and Drama at Manchester University. Won the Betty Trask award for her first book Anita and Me. Wrote the screenplay for the 1993 film Bhaji on the Beach. Co-stars in the television series The Kumars at No. 42. Awarded the MBE in 1997.
