George I
- Favourite Briton.

Born on 28th of May 1660
Died on 11th of June 1727

George I was born in 1660, in Germany, his father was Ernest Augustus, Duke Of Brunswick-Luneburg, and his mother was Sophia, who was the granddaughter of James I. Queen Anne ruled England for 18 years, she had seen the Act Of Union which had united England and Scotland, resulting in the union of Great Britain, but throughout her life she had been plagued by illness and 18 miscarriages which resulted in her being childless. George I was not the natural heir for the crown, however, due to the Act Of Settlement which had been passed by Parliament in 1701, which prohibited Catholics from ascending to the throne, she nominated George as her heir. Therefore, he ascended to the British throne in 1714, the 1st Monarch of the House Of Hanover, aged 54 years, he was crowned on the 20th October in Westminster Abbey.

He was a reluctant monarch, he did not speak English and held little interest in his realm, leaving much of the ruling to his Prime Minister and Government, he had married his cousin Princess of Celle, and they had two children, a son who would inherit the crown and rule as George II, and a daughter Sophia. Unfortunately he was later to imprison his wife in Ahlden Castle until her death due to him believing in her infidelity. His relationship with his son was not a happy one, George the Prince of Wales opposed his fathers policies and rallied support against him. George I was faced with a rebellion by the Jacobites, who were in support of James, who was a Catholic and had a much stronger claim to the throne. George died whilst he was in Hanover in June 1727, and he was later buried on the 4th August 1727. He was succeeded by his son George, who was to rule as George II.

re: "but throughout her life she had been plagued by illness and 18 miscarriages which resulted in her being childless." This does not equate with the previous section on Anne.
