Began his professional acting career as a straight actor in repertory and on BBC radio. Best known for the character of Reverend IM Jolly in the long-running television show Scotch and Wry. Appeared in the films Gorky Park and Local Hero. Suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease, died of MRSA.
