Born 1925. Died 1999 – Comedian and actor.

Born Ernest Wiseman. Joined up with Eric Morecambe in 1941 and as Morecambe and Wise became one of the best comedy duos of all time. Made their name in radio, transferring to television in 1955. Had regular series with both BBC and ITV. Well known for inviting celebrities on to the show and making them look foolish. Awarded an OBE in 1976. Died of an heart attack at the age of 73.
