Born 1958 – Comedian and actor.
Studied drama at the University of Mancester. Pioneering member of the alternative comedy scene in the 1980s setting up The Comic Strip in London. Has successful comedy partnership with Adrian Edmondson. Played Rick in the cult series The Young Ones (1982-84). Appeared as Squadron Commander Flashheart in Blackadder Goes Forth in 1989, in the sitcom The New Statesman (1987) and in the BBC sitcom Bottom (1991-95). Won Best Comedy Performer in 1993 for Rik Mayall Presents.
