Born George O’Dowd. With Jon Moss, Mikey Craig and Roy Hay he formed the pop group Culture Club in 1981. In late 1982 their single "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me went to number one in the UK. After a string of hits the band split up in 1986, pursued a solo career before going on to become a successful club DJ in the 1990s.
