Made his full debut for Tottenham Hotspurs in 1976. Played there for 12 years before signing for Monaco in 1987. Subsequent teams included Southampton, Chelsea and Swindon Town. Hoddle retired as a top-level player in 1990, becoming player/manager of Swindon Town in 1990. Lost his job as England manager in 1999 after his comments about disabled people.
