Edward Clarendon
Born in Salisbury, WiltshireBorn on 18th of February 1609
Died on 9th of December 1674
Born 1609. Died 1674 - English statesman.
Chief advisor to Charles II while in exile and on the Restoration was created Earl of Clarendon. Introduced the Clarendon Code to ensure the supremacy of the Church of England. Criticism of Charles’s private life force him into exile in Rouen where he died. Buried in Westminster Abbey.
