Born 1752. Died 1840 - English novelist and diarist.


Educated herself by reading English and French literature. First and best novel Evelina was published anonymously in 1778. Wrote Cecilia (1782) and Camilla (1796) and The Wanderer (1814). Letter and Diaries (1846) give vivid account of her life.
