An English philosopher and social reformer, he was the son of Scottish philosopher James Mill, who taught his son Greek at age 3, and political economy by age 13. He began publishing the newspaper The Traveller in 1822, and helped found the University College London in 1825. His major work A System of Logic (1843) has been a huge influence. His Autobiography was published in 1873.
