Born 1693. Died 1762 - English astronomer.
Educated at Balliol College, Oxford. Friend of Edmond Halley and Isaac Newton. Succeeded Halley as Regius Professor of Astronomy at Greenwich. Published his discovery of the aberration of light in 1729. Appointed Astronomer Royal in 1742.
