A much loved comic actor who first appeared on our screens in Not the Nine OíClock News (1979-82), before starring as Edmund Blackadder in the Blackadder series which became one of the most successful BBC sitcoms (1983-89). Other major TV successes include the silent comedy series Mr Bean (1990-95), and The Thin Blue Line (1995-96).
