1872 - 1961. English chemist

Educated in London and France. Helped established Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. Consultant on explosives during WWII. Helped William Ramsay determine the properties of argon and helium. Discovered krypton, neon and xenon. Elected FRS in 1904.
