Friday 21st January 2011 Crowds gather as ATM gives away money
The public perception of bankers has probably never been at a lower
ebb than now, with bankers once again poised to pay themselves massive
bonuses while ordinary hard-working people bear the brunt of bailing
them out of their greed and stupidity. It comes as no surprise then to
hear then that dozens of people flocked to a cash machine outside a
store in Dundee after it started spitting out money. Dozens of people
enjoyed the ATM’s unplanned generosity before Police were eventually
called to the Scotmid branch in Fintry Road, Dundee. The ATM, which is
operated by Bank Machine Ltd, was put out of commission shortly
afterwards. Scotmid said the ATM was operated independently and was
not connected to the store. Angus and Dundee

They say you can get just about anything on eBay nowadays. And, as if
to prove the point, a tea hut from the Carnoustie golf course has been

behind the 10th hole but is now being replaced. The 16ft (4.8m) by 8ft

the years with hundreds of bag tags used by golfers and celebrities.
The buyer must remove the tea hut from the course by 22 October, 2010. Angus and Dundee

Titian's Diana and Actaeon Diana and Actaeon has been viewed by 140,000 people after the painting was bought for the nation for £50m, the Scottish government has claimed. Friday 9th October 2009 Things get batty at Scottish hospital
Ninewells Hospital Dundee has had problems with all sorts of pests.
Between October 2008 and July 2009 the pests caused NHS Tayside to
spend over £11,000 for 462 call outs to deal with pests. Varmints
causing trouble at the hospital include rats, mice, cockroaches,
various insects - and even bats!

The catalogue of finds at the hospital makes somewhat gruesome
reading, especially if you’ve ever been a patient there! Silverfish
were found in food preparation areas, maggots in the corridor near the
hospital kitchen and rats in ward four. Bats were spotted in three
places within the hospital, on general medical ward six, in the
infirmary and on the surgical ward.

Public Health Minister Shona Robison said; "Patients should be
reassured that NHS Tayside has robust procedures in place to tackle
infestations, to ensure that they do not increase and that there is no
deterioration in standards for patients." Angus and Dundee

Friday 17th July 2009 Dundee FC outfoxed by furry opponents
Foxes have been holding up preparations for the forthcoming football season at Dundee FC’s Dens Park. Ground staff there said the foxes were sneaking onto the pitch at night, possibly attracted by rabbits grazing there. Unfortunately the foxes have not been playing by the rules, apparently the bushy tailed critters have been digging up the six yard box and urinating on the grass. They are probably Dundee United FC fans then!

Fencing has now been brought in to try and stem the nocturnal pitch invasions to allow the pitch to recover in time for the first home game on 25 July. Angus and Dundee

Thursday 18th June 2009 New bird families for Angus nature reserve
Loch of Kinnordy nature reserve, near Kirriemuir in Scotland, is home to some rare new arrivals after a pair of bearded tits and their young arrived there.

The family are among 550 breeding pairs thought to survive in the UK and are particularly rare so far north. The birds, with their distinctive long brown tails, are usually found in eastern and southern England.

Hannah Morton, the warden at Loch of Kinnordy, was reported as saying "It's great to have the first breeding bearded tits in Angus and I hope this is the beginning of a colony at Kinnordy." Angus and Dundee
