Tuesday 1st March 2011 Pensioner foils jewellery raid
Four robbers fled from the scene of an attempted jewellery raid empty
handed after intervention from a 70-year-old member of the public. The
men tried to leave the shop, Thurlow Champness jewellers at Abbeygate
Street, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk with a bag of stolen items but this
was grabbed by a member of the public. The robbers fled on two
motorcycles which were later found abandoned on Long Buckland.
Detective Inspector David Giles said: "The fact that two motorcycles
have been recovered suggest that a further vehicle was used by the
offenders to leave the area. I want to hear from anyone who may have
seen the motorcycles enter Bury town centre, or anyone with any
information on any other vehicles that may be involved." Suffolk

Wednesday 13th January 2010 Beach hut defies property downturn
A beach hut in Suffolk has gone on sale at an eye watering price that
proves the old adage of location, location, location! you can still
demand top money. The seaside abode is hardly a des-res. There’s no
front door and it is described as in "poor condition" in the details.
The sale information warns: "Potential purchasers should be aware that
the hut is in quite poor condition."
Inside that non-existent front door things don’t improve, the floor is
covered in sand and the paint is peeling. Despite all of this it is
going to the market with a guide price of £40,000. Even with all these
drawbacks the hut in Southwold has attracted interest according to a
spokesman for estate agent Durrants and added that huts had achieved
up to £100,000 at auction. Suffolk
