Events in Ardaneaskan Ardaneaskan is a tiny hamlet on the coast in the north-west Highlands of Scotland, situated on the north-west shore of Loch Carron, 5 miles south of the 18th century village of Lochcarron, the nearest town is Kyle of Lochalsh 25 miles away. Access to the hamlet is via a narrow single track road, Ardaneaskan is a peaceful rural community and an ideal location for relaxing, walking, cycling, fishing, sight seeing and nature watching. Ardaneaskan has a 9-hole golf course and an interesting museum located in an old croft a short distance from where the road ends. There are self-catering cottages, hotels, caravans and b&b’s, in and around the area. Lochcarron has shops and amenities, pubs, cafes and restaurants; the village also hosts a traditional Highland Games each June. With beautiful views over the sea to Plockton and the Isle of Skye, Ardaneaskan is a popular tourists resort and a perfect base to explore the surrounding Highland attractions including climbing in the Torridon Mountains and boat cruises leaving from Gairloch, to spot whales, dolphins and seals. The ruins of the historic Strome Castle lie to the east of Ardaneskan in the village of Strome and the 13th century Eilean Donan Castle and visitor centre is in nearby Dornie.
