Latest reviews | Events in March
March is a Market Town with links back to Roman times set amongst the Fenlands of Cambridgeshire. There is a fabulous church with an impressive roof that’s carved with a host of Angels. The River Nene runs through the town, and the Narrow Boats glide along with swans and ducks, and makes a perfect study for budding artists.
The March and District Museum has three Victorian room settings including kitchen, parlour and Nursery. Together with a wealth of railway memorabilia and even medical instruments that would make your toes curl, outside is a replica of a Fenland Cottage, complete with draughty outside ’Privy’.
For the lovers of aircraft a visit to Fenland and West Norfolk Aviation Museum is sure to please, with exhibits of aircraft where the cockpits can be explored, uniforms, and a flight simulator. Or perhaps a trip into Ely, where the stunning architecture of the Cathedral dominates the skyline for miles, once inside the magnificence surrounds you and the gem colours radiate from the stain glass windows, pop into the Stain Glass Museum where Medieval to present examples won’t fail to impress. Or just around the corner the half timbered house where Oliver Cromwell lived tells a fascinating story.
