| Events in Chatteris
Chatteris is a small busy town situated in the Fens in the county of Cambridgeshire, home to 8,800 people. The town can turn back many pages of the history books and the Chatteris Museum has exhibits that tell the story from the Stone Age until recently, including the Town Stocks, and The Dock where many have stood in the old Magistrates Court. For the lovers of history there is a wealth of wonders nearby, such as Ely Cathedral, built in the 11th Century by William the Conqueror, this magnificent masterpiece of architecture rewinds time for many centuries. Don’t forget the Stained Glass Museum where exhibits span eight centuries. For tired feet a short walk will find tea shops with river views where colourful barges display their enchanting names. Or just around the corner is the black and white façade of Oliver Cromwell’s house. Or how about a trip to an 18th Century working watermill, where the expertise of milling is on display, spread over five floors would grace any page, or perhaps the wonder of Mother Nature won’t fail to surprise, the Raptor Foundation is a Bird of Prey Sanctuary where Buzzards, Owls, Hawks and the ancient skill of Falconry will sureley amaze.
