Nestling alongside the Peckforton Hills in the rolling Cheshire countryside the villages of Burwardsley and Higher Burwardsley provide a glimpse of a time gone by. There are no major roads to the village, there is no railway station and there are no shops yet the village of Higher Burwardsley remains a popular place to live as it offers easy access to the Roman City of Chester. The cottages that make up this village are very much as they were when first built, there have been some new additions but the village feel is very much retained today. To take a stroll along the country lanes is surely one of the best reasons for visiting here, there are numerous walks and trails ideal for hiking or mountain biking. Cheshire is well known for its dairy cattle and here at Burwardsley you are centrally placed to take advantage of the various farm shops and what they have to offer, from freshly made cheeses and dairy products through to some of the best homemade ice cream that you can find. If you are feeling creative then there are the famous candle workshops where as well as finding out how they are made you have the opportunity to design and make your own candles. After a hard day of leisure then there is nothing better than to take advantage of one of the local inns where local ingredients are used to satisfy the most demanding of tastes.
