A thriving town whose past stems from the Mining industry of tin and copper. Many historic buildings are in the ‘Cross‘, the statue of Richard Trevithick inventor, the Library, and Fire Station now the Museum or take a look at the ’Pink Chapel’ Methodist Church, or tiered fountain all are worth seeing. The pre Norman church of St Martin and St Meriadoc has splendid arches, fifteen stained glass windows, a 60’ tower with eight bells and a 15th Century carved pulpit, what more could there be, perhaps a painted copy of the letter by King Charles thanking the Cornish people for their loyalty during the Civil War. The Mineral Tramways Discovery Centre is a terrific insight into the history of Cornwall, travel along footpaths and trails whether walking, cycling or horseback, or why not visit the magical Cornish coast with Bassetts Cove, a sandy beach at the foot of sheer cliffs, or Gunwalloe, with a stream on the beach, ideal for paddling. A 14th Century Castle two miles away perched 816’ feet on a boulder covered summit, is open to the public although now a restaurant. Camborne and surrounding areas will tempt her visitor to return again and again.
