South Molton is a small Devonshire Market town that turns back the pages of history to Saxon times, it’s placed at the southern edge of Dartmoor on the banks of the River Mole, and is home to just over four thousand people. There is an eclectic mix of buildings that span through the ages and a 15th Century church which makes an interesting interlude, time it right, and the melodious sound of the eight bells can be heard. There are antique, craft and interesting shops, or for a chance to escape the hustle and bustle there is a choice of the dramatic Moorland landscape where wide open spaces meet vast expanse of sky, the South West Coastal Path with stunning seascapes, or perhaps take the Heritage Trail which showcases the many treasures of the town. The Museum will impress with it’s ancient Fire Engine and Cider press, or perhaps the tour around the Chocolate factory will be hard to resist. The poignant and evocative exhibits on offer at Cobbaton Combat Collection will show weapons, uniforms, and even the Ration Books of a by gone era. Or why not take a look at the industrious Honey Bees making delicious honey at Quince Honey Farm.
