The seaside town of Youghal has everything to offer for a wonderful family holiday. Located on the south coast of Cork where the River Blackwater meets the sea, Youghal has fabulous scenery, long sandy beaches, outdoor sports, restaurants serving delicious local produce, a good variety of shops and stores, and plenty of entertainment for young and old alike. The 13th Century town is uniquely atmospheric, with daily guided walks around the medieval streets and historic buildings. The clock tower, built in 1776, is a striking landmark. In summer, the quays bustle with pleasure boats and yachts, and boats may be hired. Various trips are available - up the Blackwater by canoe or airboat, or into the bay for fishing, or whale and dolphin spotting. Golfers will savour the views from Youghal's clifftop championship course, and other popular sports range from scuba diving and horse-riding to hiking and cycling. Children are comprehensively catered for at the Perks Family Entertainment Centre, which includes tenpin bowling and laser games. Kids are also welcome at the local greyhound track, and in pubs up to about 10pm. At night, adults may enjoy a flutter at the casino, a trip to the cinema or a spot of late- night clubbing.
