With a history that can be traced back over 1,000 years, Adderbury is formed in clusters of honey coloured, Horton stone cottages. There is a village store with good butcher, four pubs and a french restaurant all adding to the strong community spirit which is present in Adderbury. St Mary’s Church with its impressive steeple is nearly 800 years old and covered in gargoyles. The chancel is said to be the work of William Wykeham, founder of New College, Oxford. The church has a strong reputation for its music especially orchestral concerts which are a regular occurrence. Adderbury boasts two active Morris dancing sides and an annual day of dance. Also to be seen in Adderbury are its Lakes. Two small lakes are fed by five streams. They once formed part of Adderbury House estate and Capability Brown is thought to have had some input in the design.
