We booked the accommodation via telephone informing the owner that we have a 1,5 year old son. Unfortunately we arrived late (11pm) because of motorway closure. however, we informed the owner of our delay. The next morning we were told we were not welcome because of our son (who had not cried once since our arrival) and it was unacceptable we arrived late. The owner was very unfriendly and it was made clear that for the next two days we would not be able to have breakfast with the other guests. We do travel a lot and have never encountered such attitude and unfriendliness from a hostess before. We decided to move on and luckily found a very friendly B&B through the tourist board. My advise would be not to stay at Buckingham House.

Buckingham House was wonderful! We booked two rooms which were on the third floor. Both rooms were bright, sunny, very clean and well decorated. The wonderful breakfasts were served by the owner who was friendly, efficient and made every one of us feel like we were visiting a close family friend. She also called a local taxi company to arrange transportation back to the Manchester airport at a much more reasonable rate than we tourists would have found! We plan to stay there every time we visit England and would recommend Buckingham House to anyone!

Hotel is well situated however on checking in we were placed in a dark dingy room with no door. We were told this wasn't a problem as the only people to use that part of the house was the propritor to make breakfasts and another couple who would be coming to join us for breakfast. Went and stayed at the holiday in instead, maybe not quite the quaint feel but at least we felt secure and had some privacy. It had never occured to me to check that a hotel room has a door when booking it!!
