I'm not sure which Suffolk Arms the previous reviewer ate in but it certainly wasn't the one in Brinkworth. My wife, daughter and i went along one evening and were met with a friendly smile and a welcome drink before the meal. Sitting down in beautifully kept dining area i chose a steak with all the trimmings, my daughter had scampi and my wife had louisiana chicken. My steak was cooked just as i like it and came on a plate full of chips, peas, onion rings, salad, mushrooms and tomatoes. Not one mouthfull was left.... Both my wife and Amy polished off their meals and having tasted the Louisiana chicken admit it had a kick but was delicious (it clearly states chilli on the menu!) Unable to fit in a pudding we had coffees and left. My opinion is great meal good prices and friendly staff. 10 out 0f 10.............

Having reserved a table for 7.30, my partner and I arrived at 7.15 ordered drinks at the bar, and informed a member of staff we had a reservation. We were politely "pointed" to our table...... We both ordered Loiusiana Chicken, which looked great when it arrived. Unfortunately when we started eating we both found copious amounts of chilli flakes had been included which destroyed any flavour the rest of the meal may have had. I ordered an apple and blackberry crumble with custard, which when it arrived it turned out to be rhubarb pie and custard. Fortunately I like like rhubarb, however the tepid custard left a lot to be desired. When we spoke to a member of staff, although appreciating "feedback" it was obvious the reason given that the chef was not working would have to suffice. I can only presume that it would be prudent for anyone contemplating eating at the Suffolk Arms in Brinkworth, to make sure the chef is on site. If the proprietor appreciated the need to satisfy disappointed customers then they would have had at least the courtesy to come and speak to us. Even a letter with the same content has been ignored - that to me speaks volumes. Personally I will give the Suffolk Arms a very wide berth in future. In the current climate, I don't think anyone in that trade can afford to offend customers, and I have been offended. D Daly Swindon
