I had the great misfortune of eating there last night,it was earth shatteringly awful.I watch ramseys kitchen nightmares and know for a fact the chef is failing to cook the dishes properly because of the vastness of the menu.a crowning glory was a flower in the middle of the plate uneddible.."....................this chef turns good food into farce.I'll start telling you about the night but stop as the complaint is too long.we were shown to our table which had a troop of flies hovering overhead ,,we then ordered the meal ,it came my pate was presented no better than dog dirt it's toast was no better than warmed up bread,my steak was smaller than a cd the onions weren't cooked, the chips were fried jacket potatoes garnished with a flower you couldn't eat...I usually complain but if any of the staff carnt see the obviu

Having just been to the Sutton arms again for a meal I am amazed at the negative comments on here and can't give a reason or explanation fir them, we found the food amazing, we both have had the Sunday dinner which was way to big and probably should have shared one :) we have also had pasta and mixed grill amongst our various meal we have had in our times there, if you are looking for a nice atmosphere and great food that is reasonably priced then this is the place for you, but, and it's the only negative I have, it's be god dam hungry because small meals they ain't , but don't take my word for it, try it for yourself, it be the best decision you make.

Having read a few negative reviews I would just like to say I totally disagree. Our party had 4 different starters and main meals and all agreed that they were fabulous! I'm amazed to read any negative reviews and don't understand unless these bad reports have come from competitors or someone with a grudge. Well done to all at the Sutton Arms as we were met with nothing but pleasantness and had a great night. We will definitely be returning.

I really do find it hard to believe there are some bad reviews on this site. Lets be realistic about this, The Sutton Arms is a country pub/restaurent, Gordon Ramsay isnt the chef and Tom Cruise isnt making cocktails behind the bar. However it is the best country/pub restaurent i have ever been to. The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. The main problem seems to be deciding what to have, with the menu being so vast. If you are looking for quality, value for money, great food & good portions then i would highly recommend the Sutton Arms

Cheap and cheerful, including bottles of wine at only £5. Desserts overpriced in comparison with cost of main meal.

My Wife and I went to the Sutton arms for a meal for my wife's birthday. I was greeted quite pleasantly by a young lad behind the bar he was quite chatty and happy. then things went wrong, when I was shown to a table I didn't want to sit at, I asked for the 3 course menu for £9.95 the old waitress sighed and her tone with us changed we don't eat out much and have been to the Sutton arms for the value for money, we are not exactly rich and enjoy the food there. the waitress was rude and not very pleasant at all we have since learnt she doesn't work Mondays so we will only go then.

Food nothing to shout about, decently priced, luke warm. Two dragons behind the bar who make you want to eat elsewhere, I'm surprised they have any clientele at all with the atrocious service!!! Will definitely not be going back to this place!!

I visited this pub today with 10 members of my family for me neice's birthday, it has gone hill since last time I visited, it took over an hour for the meals to come, when they did come they were cold, I think they had tried to warm them all up in the microwave but only succeeded making the plate red hot, the old lady waitress was very abrupt that we had not ordered off the main menu & oppted for the £11.95 three course meal, we did not stay for the sweet, one place I will not be visiting again....

my friend won a free 3 course meal here with magic radio and took me along as her guest. we orderd the pate and garlic mushrooms which were very nice but after that the meal went down hill, we both orderd the stir fry chicken thai red curry with rice, both had very little chicken in them both had vegtables that were none discript and as for any spice ive had spicer dish water. we then ordered puds my friend ordered the nut sunde which was ok, i ordered the crunchy toffee and banana pud with home made toffee sauce.which consisted of two hob nob biscuts a spoon of icecream and 4 slices of banana and a squirt of bottled toffee sauce. this pud normaly costs £3.95 what a rip off. glad i didnt have to pay

I took my wife and parents for a late Sunday lunch. The food was OK, we had chosen off the set meal. When it was time to order the deserts off the 3 course meal, we were quite full and all four of us were unsure we wanted a desert. The waitress offered us a discount. After leaving us unattended for 15 - 20 minutes i went to find her to tell her that we were full and would take the discount. When the bill came they had charged us the full amount. When we questioned where the discount was we were then told that it was such a good price we had to pay the full amount. I beleive that they should have honoured what the waitress had told us. She obviously never received a tip. We use the restaurant quite a few times each year, this has certainly put us off re - visiting.

My husband and i have been to the sutton arms on a number of occasions now for the past 2 years, and we have always found the food to be fantastic and great value for money, the staff are very polite and friendly the pub and restaurant have a lovely atmosphere ,we took our friends last friday and they also think it is a lovely place , great food and great value for money they were really impressed by the very extensive menu and they are going to recommend it to all their friends too,the sutton arms is now our favourite restaurant , if i have to make one point it would just be to say its a shame the specials menu isnt shuffled around every couple of months as its such good value for money but we personally think it would be even better if there were a wider range of specials , we would recommend the sutton arms to everyone looking forward to our next visit . Me my bofriend and his parents went here for his mams birthday. On the way i didnt know what to expect or where we were going, after many country lanes we arrived to a small place in the middle of nowhere, or thats what it seemed like in the dark. We arrived early to be greeted by the Manager, I was very busy already (7pm) but were given a warm welcome and shown to our table. We wew sat on a table near the door which t this time of year was opening and closing every two minutes so a draft was expected and thats what we got altough didnt really bother us as it just made the gorgeous smell of the food float around. We were given our menus and my jaw dropped open with the extensive menu. I hadnt been here before but soon took a liking to the place. After looking through the menu we decided not to have starters and went straight to the main course, I had Carbonara, the two men had steaks and his mam has Lams shank all of which didnt take too long to arrive considering how busy it was. They came accompanied with veg, potaoes and salad all in seperate bowls so we could help ourselves. I purposly havent mentioned the chips yet as i feel they should be mentioned seperatly, They were biog chunky things bursting with flavour I have never had chips like it. When I think about it it makes me want to go back just for that reason never mind the rest of our delicious meal. After we has scoffed all we could manage it took a while for our plates to be taken away again we didnt mind as it was busy and we had drinks to sup away at. Once they came to clear it way his mam was ready for a desert (slightly worse for wear i must say) she ordered something with custard unfortunatly i cannot remember what it was but the joy on her face while eating it said it all. At the end of the evening the bill came to 86pounds and pennies which included 3 or 4 drinks each (bacardi and cokes, beer, lager and wine) 4 meals and a desert which i think was money well spent. I am hoping to go back agin soon if i can ever get through on the phone to make a booking lol. Well worth the visit to this little country pub turned local treasure.
