Crays Pond, Berkshire

Review of Crays Pond by ken cramer on February 17th, 2007
At the age of 10 I stayed with a family called Bonner on the Goring Road. They lived in a wooden bungalow and I remember them with great fondess. This was during the war, the London blitz in fact, and the flames from that city could be seen clearly at night. There was a general store opposite the White Lion and I remember a small wooden shed on the road to Goring in which a disabled man ran a shoe repair business and where radio accumulators would be charged. My brother who was wounded at Anzio convalesced at a large house called Great Oaks just outside the village and I would very much like hear from anybody who remembers these times. I did visit the white Lion in the 50's and 70's and I can assure you it was nothing like it is now!
