Jordan Tyson

We generally feature only British heroes, but the story of 13 year old Australian Jordan Tyson needs telling. The boy died this week as the car in which he, his 10 year old brother and their mum were travelling was overwhelmed by flood waters in Queensland. They were on a trip to buy school uniform when the waters rose in moments trapping them. As two passers-by attempted a rescue the older brother insisted his sibling be taken to safety first. They had no time to return for the others, their car swept away. A deeply touching but tiny tragedy in the grand scheme of things Jordan Rice’s tale makes the almost unimaginable floods a human event for the rest of us. And what parents hearing it will not look at their own kids and reflect.
