Situated in a very happening area of London (close to Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe and Borough Market), Bankside restaurant serves modern British food at terrific prices and is already a hit with locals who know a good thing when they see one. The restaurant, which specializes in fresh affordable seasonal cuisine, manages to be large but homely, with wooden floors and suede chairs and bright modern paintings you can buy right off the walls. Call buttons on the tables make it possible to flag the waiter without a fuss, but the staff are so accommodating you may never need to touch them. The restaurant has recently taken on the former Head Chef of Tate Modern restaurant who has introduced some enticing new dishes including wild mushroom, parmesan and spinach risotto; seared Kingfish on a potato and saffron broth, and rhubarb, blackberry and crumble fool. Bankside is great place for people wanting somewhere modern and stylish but without spending a fortune. Vegetarians are well catered for and it's perfect for large parties.
