Northern Stage is the home of international theatre in Newcastle, presenting an inspiring programme of work by its resident Ensemble, from some of the UK's leading touring companies and world-class productions from Europe and beyond. The original base of Newcastle Playhouse and Gulbenkian Theatre is being re-developed and re-opens as Northern Stage in Autumn 2006. The new building has three performance spaces, with a stunning acoustic door that can be removed to create one of the greatest theatrical spaces in the North of England.
