New Milton
Situated between the forest and the sea at Barton, New Milton has a history that belies the fact it is new.
It is a lively country town of great charm set among tranquil lanes on the edge of the forest. With a wide selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, whether on holiday in the area or just visiting for the day, New Milton provides an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the New Forest. The history of the area can be traced back to the Domesday Book and beyond, with evidence of Roman occupation having been found.
Today New Milton enjoys the luxuries of a thriving town with the advantages of a magnificent stretch of coastline at Barton. The town is also home to the Forest Arts Centre and a wide range of activities at New Milton Recreation Centre. Remember to visit the famous Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum!
