Henlow is a charming village surrounded by countryside in the county of Bedfordshire, home to three thousand people. The church of St Mary The Virgin stands in the centre of the village, and dates back many centuries. For a gentle riverside stroll where ducks, swans and kingfishers can be seen the River Hiz and Ivel are the order of the day, or perhaps an insight into the fascinating story that’s waiting to be told at the Intelligence Corps Museum will tempt a visit, with evocative exhibits including costumes, equipment and weapons. Or for a fabulous experience the Shuttleworth Collection has aircraft that spans the first 100 years of flight, or why not stroll around the Swiss Garden where enchanting treasures include an Indian Pavilion, two ponds, and plants that jostle for attention, what more could possibly be asked for…how about a Grotto, or majestic peacocks, well it’s all here……… For lovers of nature the Lodge RSPB Nature Reserve has a kaleidoscope of Mother Nature’s pallet on display, with birds and creatures from bats, green woodpeckers and iridescent dragon Flies….or for a delve into the intriguing history of transport, Stondon Museum has 350 fascinating exhibits of classic cars, helicopters and motorcycles, there is even a replica of Captain Cook’s famous ship Endeavour…..
