Sitting on the beautiful Northumberland coastline, Mariners Cottage makes the ideal holiday retreat, boasting spacious accommodation and wonderful sea views from every room, whilst a decked area and large lawns in its lovely landscaped garden are perfect for outdoor dining and enjoying the glorious vista. Spittal's sandy beach and promenade are just a short stroll away and a spectacular clifftop walk leads to Cocklawburn beach. Only 2 miles away, the Elisabethan ramparts of historic Berwick-upon-Tweed are one of the town's most impressive features. The town is also home to a good selection of shops and restaurants as well as a station from where visitors can take a 45 minute train journey to the cosmopolitan cities of Edinburgh and Newcastle. Bamburgh Castle, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne (which can be accessed by causeway at low tide) and Seahouses, with its working harbour for (seasonal) boat trips to view the fascinating seal and bird colonies of the Farne Islands, are all among the delights within easy reach as are the many attractions of the Scottish Borders, whilst Alnwick's magnificent castle and acclaimed gardens are an hour's drive away. Horse riding, fishing, an indoor swimming pool and golf are all available locally. Shops and pub serving food ¼ mile.
