Nestling in peaceful and private grounds, surrounded by parkland and ancient trees, and boasting panoramic views over beautiful countryside, this large mansion house is perfect for family gatherings. Steeped in history, Kirkconnell House was home to the Maxwell family for over 800 years, and today, visitors here can experience the life of a big country house whilst enjoying more modern day comforts. Five acres of grounds, particularly wonderful in spring when rhododendrons, azaleas and spring bulbs are in flower. Walking, cycling, nature trails, bird watching and a myriad historical attractions are all easily accessible as are golf and fishing, and there are sandy beaches just 10 miles away. Dumfries is only 6 miles and New Abbey (1½ miles) offers a costume museum, a ruined sweetheart abbey, a cornmill, tea rooms and a shop/P.O. as well as two pubs serving food.
