The quiet Northumbrian village of Ellingham; just eight miles north of Alnwick; has changed little since the ancient drovers roads were well-traveled routes. Fields and woodland still surround the cluster of sandstone collages and the picturesque; square-towered church of St Maurice looks across the wide landscape to the spectacular sweep of the Northumberland coastline.

Just a stones throw from the Al dual carriageway; the Packhorse Inn at Ellingham offers an oasis of rural tranquility; a superb location for exploring Northumberland or just for a peaceful and enjoyable break from your Journey. For almost two centuries the Packhorse Inn at Ellingham has offered a warm welcome to travelers. Todays guests may not turn up with a packhorse at their heels but they feel equally at ease in the cozy bar with its open fire and exposed beams and are just as keen to savor the excellent food and drink

The Packhorse Inn has bed & breakfast accommodation in two double and three twin bedded rooms. Every room has a colour television; tea and coffee making facilities and an en-suite shower-room or bathroom. There is also an adjoining self-contained cottage which sleeps four people.

Families with children are made very welcome at the Packhorse Inn; whether for a meal or to stay. There’s a sunny beer garden to the rear of the Inn looking out across the village field. We also have a comfortable family lounge adjoining our bar.
