A traditional 18th Century inn, recently refurbished. Over two hundred years ago, when The Plough in East Sheen was first founded, it must have looked like a country inn. There were few other buildings nearby. Fields stood all about. Even a horse-ride to London could take a whole afternoon. Surprisingly, the rural atmosphere is still there. A couple of minutes' walk, for example, brings you to the edge of Royal Richmond Park, where Henry VIII hunted deer (These days the king would have to content himself with golf or horse-riding; the deer are protected). And an ancient plough hanging outside the entrance is a relic of the time when the Inn itself was a collection of farmers' cottages. Today many people know The Plough as a great pub, whose beers and food are justly celebrated
