Easily accessible and family friendly Accommodation. Wheel chair friendly. Bed and Breakfast near Monmouth and near Ross on Wye.

Portland House is an impressive dwelling dating, in some part, back to the 17th century, and situated close to the border between England and Wales in the picturesque Wye Valley, and ten minutes away from Symonds Yat.

We have undertaken an extensive refurbishment programme, restoring a considerable part of our beautiful house and garden to an excellent standard of award winning accommodation. A beautiful slate floor has been installed in the front and rear halls and both the lounge and dining room have been sympathetically renovated.

Our adaptable sleeping accommodation consists of The Marstow Room (standard double), The Magnolia Room (standard double) and The Doward Room (twin), all ensuite. We also have 3 larger suites - a superior large suite with a large 4 poster bed, a 2 bed roomed family suite accommodating up to six people, and a ground floor suite catering for wheelchair users and people with accessibility problems which has been accessibility rated by Quality in Tourism.

All bedrooms have an electric kettle, and a service tray offering bottled water, tea, coffee and chocolate and home made fancies. Standard ensuites are equipped with bath/shower gels and shampoos, and with shower caps. Bathrooms are provided with luxury bath salts and towelling slippers. Hair dryers and a trouser press are available, as well as ironing board and iron. To accommodate the sporty and 'the active in all weather we have The Boot Room with its laundry and drying facilities. We can also store bikes.

With prior arrangement we can provide evening meals for four or more guests, and we have a restaurant licence so you can enjoy wine with your meal. If you chose to have evening meals we send you sample menus beforehand to inform on the type and range of meals offered in the evenings . In February 2008 we were awarded 5 star status for excellence under National Food Hygiene Regulations
