More Information

A few hundred feet above one of the most beautiful lakes in Britain beckons a small gem of a hotel. It’s called The Samling.

Set in its own sixty-seven acre estate, it’s like no other place you’ve stayed. This is a hotel in the country and, emphatically, not a country house hotel. There’s none of that snooty nostalgic stuff. Instead, you’ll discover deep comfort, the fruits of a thoughtful kitchen and service so good you hardly notice it. Our Michelin star restaurant offers food that is light, full of good ideas and loved unreservedly by our guests.

All the rooms at The Samling are startlingly different and all but two have stunning views over Lake Windermere. Five are in the main house and five have been fashioned out of the original cottages. There is no best room, everyone has their own favourite.

The Samling is one of those houses you wish was yours. And it can be, in its entirety. For a weekend, for a week, for however long you want, you and your guests can have the run of this beautiful hideaway with its garden and sixty seven acre estate.
