There are four self-catering cottages at Borlum Farm. MacNeill's, Larch,
Marnie‚s Croft and Creag Iolaire (Gaelic for the hill of the eagles). All
the cottages overlook Loch Ness. Borlum is a hill farm with historic links
to Urquhart Castle nearby. We have our own BHS approved riding centre at
Borlum, making this the ideal place to take a riding holiday. Larch and
MacNeill's are only three hundred yards from the farm steading and stables.
Far enough away so that you don‚t have to have anything to do with the farm
at all, but near enough to really take in the ambience of our life here.
Creag Iolaire and Marnie's Croft are situated high up on the hill towards
Strone at the East end of the farm. Marnie's croft is another 500 yards away
overlooking Urquhart Castle. These two properties have really unique
locations. If you want to walk to the stables from Strone it takes about
ten minutes across the fields, or five minutes by road in a car.
The central location of Drumnadrochit makes it a fine starting point for
touring the Highlands. You can take a different route each day. It is worth
noting that if you come in winter you are equidistant between the Cairngorm
ski slopes and Nevis Range, so you can change skiing venues as conditions
dictate.
