An innovative museum exploring the history and environment of West Lothian, with award-winning children's activities and interactive displays. Displays illustrate Scotland's shale oil industry, other industrial heritage, and other historical issues, then consider their impact on landscape, economy and quality of life. This provides a historical context for a changing programme of scientific and creative activities in which all re encouraged to participate. Displays and activities are also linked to the outdoor features of the museum, the community farm with friendly farmyard animals, the 18th century watermill, indoor adventure playground, soft play area, narrow-gauge railway, tractor and trailer rides around the outlying fields and environmental discovery area.
