We know that the Isle of Sheppey has been populated for a possible 8000 years. The area of the Abbey and Gatehouse is proved to be inhabited for over 3000 years. The building that houses the Museum is probably 1000 years old. There is a wide range of artefacts including fossils, costumes, paintings and photographs. Outstanding views can be experienced from the battlements.
Regrettably because of the age of the building the museum is not suitable for disabled persons but has been recently installed with a local DVD that can be viewed on the ground floor.
