Broad Ings is a large Victorian house, rumoured to have once been a hunting lodge of the Yellow Earl. It is situated in 16 acres of private Ancient Woodland, 400 feet above Lake Windermere, and offering unspoilt panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. While very private, and boasting superb walking routes (many from the doorstep!) the house is still within easy reach of Ambleside village, with it‚s cosmopolitan atmosphere and wide choice of cafés, bars, shops, restaurants and traditional pubs, and it‚s transport links both by road and boat, should guests prefer not to drive. There are also many activities in the area, from horse riding and fishing to land boarding or off road days, and even lake cruises and a genuine steam railway, for an alternative view of Lakeland! Most excursions and days out can be booked and arranged for you, as can catering; although obviously some notice is required for these services. We also provide televisions (compatible with most VCRs and games systems) and DVD player, board games and books for those indoor days by the fire! The house retains many original features, including a large fireplace in the lounge, which is suitable for real fires (logs and coal are provided). Additionally, there are all the modern features you would expect, such as televisions, washing and drying machines, dishwasher, etc. The kitchen also boasts an AGA oven and traditional drying rails (creel), in addition to its electrical counterparts! To the lawned side of the property there is a large bonfire and barbeque area, complete with rustic seating. This property sleeps up to 18 guests comfortably, but unfortunately doesn‚t usually cater for furry pets!
