I have just read the "review" by Kelly, and should point several things out. Firstly, I assume that she had a lot to drink that night, and didn't know where she was because, The Market Tavern at Chester le Street does not serve meals in the evening, and never has. The Market Tavern also does not have 3 waitresses, only one, who serves on Saturday lunchtime only. The rest of the time, all meals are served directly by the chef. Secondly, in over 4 and a half years there, no meal or drink, has been spilled on a customer. Thirdly, we get nothing but compliments from our customers, over the quality of our meals, and the service we provide. Incidentally, we would probably not serve Kelly, as it sounds like she'd had too much to drink, to even know where she was. An apology and retraction would not come amiss though.

After 2 and a half hours our large party were finally beginning to get served, however this took some time in deed, most of the young waitress's spent most their time in the toilets than serving us hungry customers. However don't complain if your party are still being served theirs whilst others have finished. If you do complain please expect to be faced with 3 intimidating staff members with raised voices, mmm i thought the customer was always right. Also if you find some metal in your pasta, please don't expect the manager to be sorry, at the very best and only if you persist you may get a forced apology. Do not wear white at this establishment, if the waitress drops your own dinner on you, no management apology will follow, no offer of dry cleaning, however if you argue your point long enough your meal will be taken off the bill. A shambles really very unpleasant evening. This place should really feature in Hell's kitchen.
