Having been on a bit of a steak kick recently I thought I would try the best the area had to offer. Bought Rump steak £16 kg and some pork loin. Steak was ok but certainly nothing to write home about. The local butcher in the square in Maghull has tastier on offer. The pork was also dissapointing. Would have loved to recommend this place, but I think they may be tacking the mickey.

I purchased a piece of topsided beef, £8.00 approx 3pm when i questioned the colour of the meat the female assistant informed me it was more fresh than the others and that the dis-colour ( greyness and pale) would return to the original colour of red !!! I returned home and cut the topside of beef in two and noticed that there was dis-colour throughout. (Very similar to those at the supermarkert when coming to the end of the shelf-life ). Although the meat may have been fit for human consumption, i believe it unethical to sell the product as it was sold. 1. Colour of meat would return, which it did'nt not that it would. 2. If the meat was fresher than the other's than well !! Say no more. As you can appreciate i could not trust the quality of the product and certaintly not for my children. I attempted to call the shop no one answered. Although on reflection the thirty five mile round trip did not seem to be worth while for a refund. It would have cost the £8.00 in petrol and time. A very disappointed of what was a regular customer Regards Patrick
