Full marks for the animals and insects, of which there is a good range but not enough to make you bored with looking around. The education centre and talks are very interesting too. I loved the goats and pigs most. Full marks for the staff, who give a good welcome and friendly chat. Full marks for not ripping off the public for entrance fees - a good couple of hours for a modest fee. Marks lost unfortunately for the cafe not serving proper wholesome food after 3 o'clock. The Centre closes at 5 o'clock this time of year (4 o'clock or dusk according to the notice at the entrance), so I think it is abysmal that you have to settle for unhealthy, expensive things like cake, flapjack, sweets or scones in the middle of the afternoon when you long for proper food. Although modern, I found it very gloomy unless you sat at a window, which we did. Many marks lost also for the state of the toilets, which were in a modern block, but were badly in need of a good clean out. Not the worst I have seen, by any means, but I always find it insulting that paying visitors, or any for that matter, are subjected to unclean toilets. The gift shop could do with Mary, Queen of Shops to work her magic. If you can work around the drawbacks, it is still good value for money, worth a look, and the parking is adequate and free.

Wetherigg rescue centre is a lovely place with the most amazing rescued animals. They operate an adoption scheme, where you can adopt and animal for a year, and then your entrance into the "farm" is free. The animals are tame and the children are able to do a lot of petting. they have a vulture in one of the rooms which is highly intelligent, and very friendly. they also have a little Crow by the name of Basil who thinks he's human and is also a rescue creature. Definately worth a day out.
