I visited Loch Doon today 25-April-2009. I grew up and went to school in Dalmellington and lived there until I was 27, I am now 48. Loch Doon has always been a fantasic area for tourists and people come from all parts of the UK every year to holiday there in their caravans. Sadly no more. I don't know who but someone has taken the decision to ruin this fantastic place. There are now signs everywhere saying no overnight caravans and every area that could take a caravan has been blocked off with huge rocks. They have even dug up some of the tracks leading to the loch. It is so bad there is nowhere to park even for a day visit. I am sure with tourism being the only thing left in this area that this was a bright idea (Sarcasim) ;-).Whoever is responsible for this should be locked up. regards William.
